~Soiled Dove Fabric Collage*

With getting my classroom ready and the beginning on a
new school year, I haven't had
a whole lotta  time to spend
in my studio.

Before that I had been putting together a fabric collage
entitled "Soiled Dove"

based on the other pioneer-western women who fell upon hard times
(in the male dominated culture when men left or died)
Some women turned to another source of income
using the resources they had left.
And they had a story to tell too.

I am looking forward to the day when I can finish her
and make some more collages.

The beginnings of fabulous, Katie. I've often wondered about circumstances that cause a woman to earn a living on her back. But, I've never had little eyes looking up at me and wondering where was supper. To keep body and soul together, especially the bodies and souls of my little ones, should I have had any, I'd, probably, do anything. Including being a soiled dove.
Take care of yourself; life is difficult and when it slings mud, we all need to hunker down and weather the storm as best we, with God, are able.
When you have a moment, please read my post "Is Your Life Difficult"...it speaks to hard times and how we respond.

I've never discovered your beautiful studio blog before. I'm so glad you included mention of it in your Where's Katie post. This is indeed lovely -- and let me add about the other (and never worry about replying, silly girl! We get it!) -- that I send wishes and prayers that those in your world who are challenged right now -- physically or emotionally (and that includes you) find the strength to get up day by day and do what must be done. No less, but no more, either, unless that one is ready and able. Sounds like we are going through challenges with work that will part us from friends. Mine has started, yours is yet to come. It is difficult and I do feel with you on this. Sending hugs.

Christmas Day has flown past. Just now I have a quiet moment between bouts of after-Christmas sale shopping. I wanted to stop by and wish you all the joys of the season. As the quiet week approaches, may you find time to do all the things you most love. May you know, each day, how very blessed and loved you are. Happy Holidays, friend. ~ Relyn

Katie,

I love your blog and your creations! I am so glad I stumbled up them this morning. Do you sell your work anywhere? I really enjoy buying pieces from local artists. Please let me know of any opportunities to see them in person.

If you have a chance, please take a peek at my very new blog at oohlalids.wordpress.com

Cheers!

Meredith
